I had the opportunity of taking a psychology class when I was at BYU. In one particularclass, we took a test to illustrate introverted vs extroverted people. I don’t remember everythingthere was to the test but what I do recall is that one other person and I in the class of about 60 ormore answered every single question as an introvert. To many of you, this probably isn’t a surprise.I have been in the ward for over five years, and I regret to say that I may not have spoken to some of you. I am the type of individual that would enjoy to be on the back row and quietly slip out at the end of the meeting. Luckily, my wife is not the same or it might have happened.
When I received the calling to serve in the bishopric, I was worried that my tendency to be introverted would impede my ability to serve. I felt that this would make it difficult to makeconnections with those who I have been asked to serve. I truly felt that it was a “weakness” thatwould impede my ability to serve faithfully and fully. I am so grateful for spiritual promptings and confirmations from our Heavenly Father. His confirming spirit brought my soul to ease and Irecalled that Moroni wrote in the book of Ether that if men “humble themselves before me, andhave faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.” I have truly felt Hisblessings and spiritual strength in the short time that I have been serving. I testify that the Lord knows each of us personally. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses. He knows the best way to promote our growth and help us reach our true potential. Let us exercise faith and rely on him in all that we do, and as we do, I know that his grace will make up for where we fall short.

As a side note: I want to thank all of you for your support. I have been overwhelmed by your kind words and deeds. It has truly been a humbling experience to serve and I look forward to the opportunities that await me because of your kindness.
