Wow, here we are in March already! March is such an interesting month. I have said before every day in March is like that box of chocolates – you never know what you are going to get weather wise. One day of spring and two days of winter, then what may be summer followed by freezing rain, you just don’t know what is coming, or where to turn for truth in forecasting.
The other thing that fascinates me this year in particular, is that not only are the seasons confused over what time of the year it is, but our spiritual climate seems to be in an uproar as well. The entire world seems to be asking, “what is truth”? Or screaming “over here, here is truth.” Now maybe a good time to ask: What is truth? Where do I find it? How can I know that what I am hearing/reading is the truth?
Albert Einstein once gave a final exam to his physics students. When it was discovered that the test he administered was the exact same final given the previous year, his teaching assistant asked him how he could give the same test. His quiet but wise answer was “Because the answers have changed”.
I have currently in my basement several science textbooks from my college days; most of them contain incorrect information that was considered to be 100% accurate only thirty years ago. This is not to say that science is wrong, it is only to illustrate that science by nature is a process of discovery. These discoveries have the ability to change our understanding of the most basic truths of our physical world. Truth as the world sees it can be a very fast moving target.
So when we are faced with spiritual questions, where do we turn for answers, for truth? May I suggest we turn to the source, from which all truth flows. Of course I speak of our Heavenly Father, his scriptures, his prophets, and their teachings. When the mists of doubt and the darkness of despair try to lead us astray it is my hope that we will hold to the iron rod and trust in the source of all truth and light. May we not “lean unto our own understanding”- or I might add the understanding of others no matter how well intentioned - “and trust in the Lord with all our heart” – This is my fervent prayer for myself, my family, and each and everyone of you.
Love you all,
Eric Bell

High Priests
The Doctrine and Covenants is a collection of divine revelations and inspired declarations given for the establishment and regulations of the kingdom of God on the earth in the last days. Although most of the sections are directed to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the messages, warnings, and exhortations are for the benefit of all mankind and contain an invitation to all people everywhere to hear the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ, speaking for their temporal well-being and their everlasting salvation.
The Teachings of The Presidents of the Church series is to help you draw closer to your Heavenly Father and deepen your understanding of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. These books are designed to be used for personal study and as resources for teaching. They can also help you prepare family home evening lessons, prepare other lessons or talks, and answer questions about Church doctrine.
President Russell M. Nelson has said, “Prophets see ahead. They see the harrowing dangers the adversary has placed or will yet place in our path. Prophets also foresee the grand possibilities and privileges awaiting those who listen with the intent to obey. I know this is true! I have experience it for myself over and over again.”
As we prepare for General conference may we be ready to receive direction from our prophets to help us get through the trials and challenges of life.

Sunday School
Quick thoughts from the Sunday School:
1) Reminder of the Church’s new “LDS Media Library” app. This new app contains Church videos, images, and music content and allows the user to more easily find, edit, organize or present the media when teaching. If you need a portion of a General Conference talk or section of a hymn you can easily trim the video or song and playback the portion that applies to your lesson. It also allows for offline viewing so you don’t have to try streaming the video in your class. The app can be found at both the Apple App Store and Google Play and is free!
2) We will be having the monthly Teacher Council Meeting on March 12th in the North Pillar room.
3) The March Gospel Doctrine Lesson Schedule will be:
