September

It is amazing how much time we spend every week in vehicles. I have found that I spend at least an hour daily heading to and from work. Over the last few years, I have enjoyed listening to music, conference talks, audiobooks and other things to fill my time. Lately, I have been listening to a popular Christian music radio station. I am amazed at how many times I am uplifted or inspired on my way to or from work from the messages in the lyrics of the songs I hear. There are some lyrics to two songs that I want to share with you as they have had a profound impact on me since I heard them.

One song starts out by singing about all the troubles in the world, and then the narrator poses the question “God, why don’t you do something?” and the subtle response is “I did, I created you!”1

The other song gives examples of people showing the love of Christ in various situations. It then states “God put a million, million doors in the world for his love to come through, one of those doors is you. We bring the kingdom come with every act of love.”2

In a world as chaotic as ours with so much negativity, these lyrics were a refreshing message. We are constantly inundated with bad news, politics, stress, economic uncertainty etc. It is so easy to forget that there are many good people out there, and we can make a difference in the lives of others. I am so grateful for our neighbors and the community we live in. I can testify that many of you have been doors to our Saviors love to me, my family and those around you. Thank you for being the people that you are, and let us strive to increase the good in our world through our acts and deeds.
